Sherfield English is a small village in Hampshire, between the Test Valley and the New Forest, on the old Romsey to Salisbury road. For its size it has a surprising range of services and facilities, with a village hall, sports field, shop and Post Office, farm shop, nursery, fishing lakes, Tea Rooms, the Hatchet Inn, a garage and an active church.

It is still quite largely a farming community, with no 'commuter dormitory' developments. Most of its houses, cottages and isolated farms are scattered down narrow leafy lanes, unseen by those who pass through on the 'main' road.

The Church, St Leonard's was built in 1902 by Lady Caroline Ashburton (of Melchet Court) in memory of her daughter. It houses some fine art nouveau style stained glass windows, the old village stocks, a 13th century coffin and various old carvings rescued from the medieval church near Manor Farm, and a particulalry fine set of bells.

Sherfield English has about 700 residents, and a strong sense of community. As a result there are a wide variety of groups, activities and events in the village. The bowls, croquet, tennis and football facilities are well used, and all residents are encouraged to join in. Please explore this site for further information.

Influence the direction of the NDP for this village. Remember! Once adopted by TVBC the council must take into consideration our NDP when any future developments are proposed here. Our unique village geography here means it is essential we have an NDP
which is comprehensive and representative.
